HubSpot Credits, Translated: What Every Breeze Agent Burns and the Three Caps to Set on Day One
HubSpot Credits are the currency every Breeze agent and AI action runs on, and the pricing is spread across a catalog, a billing guide, a product page and two announcements. This is the one-page version: what a credit costs, what each tier includes, what each agent consumes in credits and in dollars, the rule that turns a spike into a standing charge, and the three settings to change before you switch any agent on.
Every figure is from HubSpot’s own pages, checked 2026-09-05. If you want the opinion on whether the meter is a good deal for a small team, that is in what HubSpot Customer Agent costs a team of three. This page is the reference.
The currency
Per HubSpot’s credits and billing guide:
- Price: packs of 1,000 credits for about $10 a month. One credit is one cent.
- Included monthly: Starter 500, Professional 3,000, Enterprise 5,000.
- Rollover: none. Unused credits expire at the end of the month.
- Purchase options: packs up front for predictable spend, or pay-as-you-go, per HubSpot’s AI products page.
Two notes. Some third-party guides quote higher included allowances than the figures above, which appear to reflect different rate pages at different times; Marketing Mary’s credits guide documents the discrepancy. Check your own allowance in Settings, Account & Billing, Usage & Limits rather than budgeting from any published figure, including this one. And 3,000 included credits is about $30 of usage a month, which is a rounding error for a department and the entire AI budget for a team of one.
What each agent and action burns
Per HubSpot’s product and services catalog and the April 2026 pricing announcement:
| Agent or action | Credits | Dollar equivalent | Billed when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer Agent | 50 per resolution | $0.50 | The conversation was handled by the agent and not passed to a human for 72 hours, or the agent qualified a lead |
| Prospecting Agent | 100 per recommended lead | $1.00 | A lead is recommended for outreach |
| Prospecting Agent research task | 10 | $0.10 | Per task |
| Data Agent | 10 per response | $0.10 | Per answer |
| Content Agent | 1,000 per piece | $10.00 | Per generated article or asset |
| Breeze workflow action | 10 per action | $0.10 | Per contact that hits the action |
| Breeze Assistant | 0 | Free | |
| Standard enrichment | 0 | Free |
The row to notice is the last billable one. A Breeze AI action inside a workflow costs 10 credits every time a contact passes through it. A nurture workflow with an AI step that enrols 500 contacts a month is 5,000 credits, more than Professional’s entire allowance, before any agent has answered a single conversation.
What the allowances buy
Translate the included credits into work and the tiers look different from how they are sold.
| Tier | Included | Customer Agent resolutions | Content Agent pieces | Workflow AI actions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 500 | 10 | 0 | 50 |
| Professional | 3,000 | 60 | 3 | 300 |
| Enterprise | 5,000 | 100 | 5 | 500 |
Sixty resolved conversations or three blog drafts a month is the Professional allowance. Anything past that is packs, and packs are where the next rule applies.
The rule that turns a spike into a standing charge
Per HubSpot’s billing guide: if you use more credits than your monthly allowance plus any packs you have purchased, “an extra 1,000 HubSpot Credit pack will be automatically added to your subscription, increasing your monthly limit for the remainder of your contract.”
Read it twice. The pack is not a one-time overage. It is added to the subscription and stays there until the contract ends. A launch month that burns 20 packs leaves you paying for 20 packs in the quiet months that follow, and the renewal quote is calculated on the higher number. The renewal checklist has the timing.
Illustrative. A Professional account with 3,000 included credits runs Customer Agent through a product launch: 455 resolutions, 22,750 credits, 20 packs added. The next month sees 200 resolutions, 10,000 credits, well inside the 23,000 now on the subscription. The invoice still shows 20 packs. It will until the term ends, unless someone changes the setting below.
The three caps to set on day one
1. Set a credit limit. In Usage & Limits, set the ceiling to the number you have budgeted. When it is reached, agents pause rather than upgrade. The trade-off is real: the agent stops answering at the limit, so pick the number with the launch calendar in front of you.
2. Choose pay-as-you-go over automatic packs if you would rather have an overage billed once than a pack added to the contract. HubSpot’s AI page lists both options; the default after a first pack purchase is automatic. Decide which you want before the first pack, not after.
3. Audit the workflows for AI actions. Open every active workflow and look for Breeze steps. Each one is 10 credits per contact. Move the expensive ones to trigger on a narrow segment, or take them out of high-volume enrolments. This is the leak that shows up as “we did not even use the agents and the credits are gone.”
Where the meter sits, for a small team
The credits are a fair meter wrapped in a subscription. Customer Agent and the other agents that do work are included in Professional and Enterprise, so the door is $800 a month plus onboarding before the meter starts. For a marketing team of one to three, the meter is about a tenth of the year’s cost and the door is the rest, which is the argument in the cliff post. For the map of which Breeze slice each alternative replaces, see HubSpot Breeze alternatives.
Marqeable answers website chat and text replies in seconds, qualifies and books inside the conversation, drafts email replies for your approval, and drafts and publishes the campaign from a brief, against the HubSpot or Salesforce you already have. Frequently asked questions
How much do HubSpot Credits cost?
About $10 per 1,000-credit pack a month, one cent a credit. Starter includes 500 a month, Professional 3,000, Enterprise 5,000. Unused credits expire monthly.
How many credits does each Breeze agent use?
Customer Agent 50 per resolution, Prospecting Agent 100 per recommended lead, Data Agent 10 per response, Content Agent 1,000 per piece, Breeze workflow actions 10 per action. Breeze Assistant and standard enrichment are free.
What is the credit auto-upgrade?
Exceed your allowance plus purchased packs and HubSpot adds another 1,000-credit pack to the subscription for the remainder of the contract. Set a limit or choose pay-as-you-go in Account & Billing.
Which settings stop surprises?
A credit limit in Usage & Limits, pay-as-you-go instead of automatic packs, and an audit of workflows for Breeze AI actions.
The bottom line
One cent a credit, 3,000 included on Professional, fifty per answered conversation, a thousand per drafted article, ten per AI step per contact, and a pack that stays on the contract once a spike adds it. Set the limit, choose the billing mode and audit the workflows before the first agent goes live, and the meter behaves. Skip those three and the credits, not the subscription, will be the line finance asks about.
